Dorchester Round Table

What is Round Table?
Round Table is often described as “a social club with a conscience”. Our members are men aged between 18 and 45 from a variety of backgrounds, who meet regularly to enjoy a range of social and sporting activities, and also to help and fundraise in our local communities. It is a great way to meet a new circle of friends, to gain new experiences, and to have fun!
Most Round Table clubs meet twice a month. In Dorchester, we generally meet on the first and third Wednesday of every month. One meeting is generally an “interest” meeting, where we might go bowling, fishing or just for a drink. The other monthly meeting is generally a meal, where we discuss any business that arises, and plan the future activities of the club.
As well as our regular meetings, we also meet up with other clubs in our area, nationally and overseas. This year, we have enjoyed games evenings with other clubs in the Dorset area, met up with other British and Irish clubs at our annual conference (this year at Killarney), and enjoyed the hospitality of our new twin club in Munich.
One of the other important aspects of Round Table is our involvement in fundraising
and community events. In Dorchester, we organise the annual Carnival, and (jointly
with West Dorset CAMRA), the beer festival. Although hard work, these events are
great fun to organise, and running them teaches our members useful skills. They are
also very rewarding -
